Recap The Batavia Freshman team continued their perfect season with a dominant 60-36 road victory over Madeira, improving to an impressive 13-0 record. This commanding 24-point win showcased the team’s depth and balanced scoring attack as they controlled the game from start to finish.

Batavia set the tone early, opening the game with a 10-0 run fueled by strong play from Grayson Kern and Elijah Weisbrodt. Kern got things started with the first basket and added free throws, while Weisbrodt contributed two field goals during the opening surge. Though Madeira responded with back-to-back three-pointers to cut the deficit, Batavia maintained control and led 14-8 after the first quarter.

The second quarter belonged to Kern, who exploded for 13 points in the period and showcased his shooting range with a trio of three-pointers. His hot shooting helped Batavia pull away, as they outscored Madeira 26-16 in the quarter to take a commanding 40-24 halftime lead. Kern finished with a game-high 19 points on exceptional shooting, connecting on 7-of-13 field goals, including an impressive 3-of-4 from three-point range, and a perfect 2-for-2 from the free-throw line.

The second half saw Batavia’s balanced attack take over as they continued to extend their lead. Gage Westerkamp provided solid contributions with 10 points on 4-of-10 shooting, while Elijah Weisbrodt also reached double figures with 10 points on an efficient 5-of-10 from the field. Zion Harris had an outstanding fourth quarter, scoring all 8 of his points in the final period while shooting a perfect 4-for-4 from the field. Steele Peavely added 6 points and was particularly effective in the third quarter. The victory demonstrated the team’s depth and ability to get contributions from multiple players throughout the lineup.
