The JV Bulldogs win the second game of the Batavia home stand against the New Richmond Lions. Here’s the recap ⬇️

Game Recap: The Batavia JV team delivered a dominant performance at home, cruising to a convincing 56-32 victory over New Richmond to improve their record to 8-4. The young squad showcased balanced scoring and excellent teamwork throughout the contest, never trailing after the opening minutes and steadily building their advantage against a determined New Richmond team.

After a competitive start that saw the teams briefly tied 6-6 in the first quarter, Batavia began to assert control with contributions from multiple players. Caleb Tobias got the scoring started early and finished with 8 points on 4-12 shooting, while Keitan Rekal added 9 points with efficient 4-6 field goal shooting, including a clutch three-pointer in the fourth quarter. The first quarter ended with Batavia holding a 12-8 lead, setting the tone for what would become a commanding performance.

The second quarter belonged to Makai Taylor, who exploded for 12 points in the period and dominated the paint with his 70% shooting performance. Taylor’s hot streak included a perfect 2-2 from the free-throw line and helped Batavia build a substantial 28-14 halftime advantage. The third quarter saw John McKeon make his mark with a flawless scoring run, going 6-for-6 from both the field and free-throw line to contribute all 6 of his points in the period and extend the lead to 44-20.

Elijah Weisbrodt capped off the impressive team effort with a strong fourth-quarter showing, adding 7 of his 11 points in the final frame while shooting an outstanding 83% from the field. The victory highlighted the depth and versatility of this Batavia squad, with five different players contributing significantly to the scoring effort and the team maintaining defensive pressure throughout to limit New Richmond’s offensive opportunities.

My thoughts from yesterday’s game:

Anthony “Big Tone” Biery looked like prime LeBron James in game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals with a chase down block on a fast break attempt by New Richmond in his first few minutes in. I had him down for 4 blocks on the night. A true block party! Brought to you by Big Tone!

Makai Taylor had an efficient night going 7/10 from the field. The word “efficiency” and Makai Taylor might need to be listed as synonymous in Merriam-Webster’s dictionary as he is shooting 54 percent from the field on the entire season.

Elijah Weisbrodt cracks double digit points for the first time at the JV level. Young Weisbrodt scores 11 on an efficient 5-6 shooting.
