The Batavia Varsity squad delivered an impressive 59-43 victory over Clinton Massie at home, improving their outstanding record to 8-2 on the season. After facing an early deficit, the team showed tremendous character and resilience to pull away for a commanding 16-point win that showcased their depth and determination.
Clinton Massie came out firing, jumping to an 11-4 lead behind a pair of early three-pointers. However, Batavia responded with an incredible rally in the final minutes of the first quarter, putting together a 12-3 scoring run that included buckets from Landon Larrison, Carter Cope, Carson Harris, and Logan Roller to grab a 16-14 lead by the end of the period. The second quarter belonged to Brett McKeon, who exploded for 11 points in the frame, draining a pair of three-pointers and helping Batavia extend their advantage to 36-24 at halftime.
McKeon continued his dominant performance throughout the game, finishing with a game-high 21 points on efficient 8-14 shooting, including an impressive 3-6 from beyond the arc. Landon Larrison provided excellent support with 11 points on outstanding 4-5 field goal shooting, capping off his night with back-to-back three-pointers in the fourth quarter. Logan Roller contributed 8 points while shooting a solid 50% from the field, and Carson Harris added 6 points with timely baskets throughout the contest.
The team’s balanced attack and strong free-throw shooting down the stretch helped seal the victory, with Ryan Brose going a perfect 4-4 from the charity stripe in the final quarter to close out the game.
