The Batavia Varsity 2025-2026 basketball team opened their season in spectacular fashion, dominating Wilmington 76-44 in their home opener to improve to 1-0. The victory showcased incredible offensive balance and depth, with three players reaching double figures and contributions coming from throughout the roster.

The game started as a back-and-forth battle in the first quarter, with Wilmington briefly taking an 11-10 lead after connecting on three early three-pointers. However, Carter Cope’s clutch three-pointer sparked a momentum shift that Batavia never relinquished. Brett McKeon caught fire in the opening period, pouring in 11 points on efficient 3-7 three-point shooting to help build a 24-11 lead. His hot shooting continued throughout the game as he finished with 18 points, connecting on 7-18 field goals including 3 three-pointers.

Carson Harris took control in the third quarter with a dominant 8-point period, consistently attacking the basket and showcasing his versatility by finishing with a team-high 19 points on 8-17 shooting. Logan Roller provided steady production throughout, including a beautiful 6-point scoring streak in the third quarter that featured a three-pointer followed by a traditional three-point play. Roller’s efficient performance (5-10 field goals, perfect 1-1 from three, and 5-6 free throws) resulted in 16 points and demonstrated excellent shot selection.

The fourth quarter allowed Batavia’s entire roster to contribute, with players like Caleb Tobias, Jaylin Lowe, and Liam Trent adding valuable minutes and points to cap off the impressive victory. The team’s 76-point output reflected outstanding ball movement and unselfish play, setting an exciting tone for what promises to be a memorable season ahead.
