The Batavia Freshman team continued their perfect season with an impressive 49-37 victory over Mount Healthy at home, improving to an outstanding 6-0 record. The team showcased balanced scoring and strong teamwork throughout the contest, never allowing their opponents to take control of the game.

The game got off to a hot start with Elijah Weisbrodt leading the charge early, scoring the first basket and helping Batavia jump out to a 6-0 lead. After Mount Healthy responded to tie the game 7-7 late in the first quarter, Weisbrodt took over with a personal scoring streak, netting six consecutive points to give his team a 15-9 advantage early in the second quarter. The standout center dominated inside all game long, finishing with a game-high 24 points on exceptional 10-13 shooting from the field while adding 4-6 from the free-throw line.

The third quarter proved to be the most competitive stretch, with Mount Healthy making their strongest push of the night. The visitors managed to briefly take a 32-31 lead midway through the period, but Batavia showed tremendous composure. Eli Beasley stepped up with clutch free throws to help regain the lead, while Bentley Brown contributed a key basket during the tight stretch. Beasley finished with 9 points on 3-7 shooting and was solid from the charity stripe at 3-4.

Batavia pulled away in the final quarter behind continued strong play from Weisbrodt and solid contributions across the roster. Gage Westerkamp provided steady scoring throughout the game with 8 points on 3-6 shooting, while Tyson Eads delivered a momentum-shifting three-pointer in the second quarter that helped extend the lead. The team’s depth and balanced attack proved too much for Mount Healthy, as seven different players contributed to the scoring effort in this well-rounded victory.
