After trailing by four points at halftime, the team showed tremendous resilience and determination to outscore their opponents 22-7 in the final quarter for a commanding 11-point victory.
The game started perfectly for Batavia, as they raced out to a 7-0 lead behind early scoring from Liam Trent, Caleb Tobias, and John McKeon. However, Ross responded with an 8-point run late in the first quarter and into the second to briefly take a 13-11 lead. The second quarter featured multiple lead changes, with both teams trading baskets in an exciting back-and-forth battle. Ross managed to take a 36-32 advantage into halftime after connecting on several three-pointers, but Batavia was far from finished.
The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Batavia’s balanced attack took control of the game. The team then pulled away with contributions from multiple players, building their lead to double digits.
Caleb Tobias led the scoring effort with an outstanding 19-point performance, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line and providing clutch baskets throughout the contest. John McKeon added 12 points on efficient 6-of-13 shooting, while Liam Trent contributed 10 points and was perfect from the charity stripe (2-for-2).
