The Batavia Freshman squad delivered a dominant 51-18 victory over Reading at home, improving their perfect record to 3-0. The team showcased balanced scoring and exceptional three-point shooting throughout the contest, never trailing after jumping out to an early lead in the opening quarter.
Batavia set the tone immediately, opening with a 5-1 advantage on buckets from Grayson and a three-pointer from Steele. The momentum continued as Tyson Eads connected from beyond the arc to extend the lead to 8-1. Though Reading managed to keep pace early, trailing just 8-5 after the first quarter, Batavia’s depth and shooting accuracy began to take control in the second period. The team methodically built their advantage to 17-11 at halftime, with Bentley leading the way with 4 points in the quarter.
The third quarter belonged to the dynamic duo of Steele and Tyson Eads, who combined for 8 points to help Batavia pull away decisively. Steele was particularly impressive, knocking down both a three-pointer and a two-pointer while finishing the game with 11 points on efficient 4-of-7 shooting, including a stellar 3-of-5 from three-point range. Eads matched his teammate’s long-range accuracy, also shooting 60% from beyond the arc to contribute 9 points. Gage Westerkamp added 7 points with solid interior play, going 3-of-6 from the field.
