The Batavia Freshman 2025-2026 team continued their perfect season with an impressive 49-26 road victory over New Richmond, improving to 7-0. Playing away from home, the young squad demonstrated tremendous resilience and teamwork to secure a dominant 23-point win that showcased their balanced scoring attack and strong defensive effort.

The game started as a back-and-forth battle, with New Richmond jumping out to an early 3-0 lead before Batavia quickly responded. After Bentley Brown got the scoring started with a two-pointer and Eli Beasley connected on a three to tie it 5-5, the teams traded baskets throughout the first quarter. Elijah Weisbrodt began to assert himself with back-to-back field goals, while Greyson Kern capped off a strong first quarter with a perfect shooting display, including a three-pointer that helped give Batavia a 14-10 lead after eight minutes.

The second quarter saw New Richmond battle back to tie the game 18-18, but Batavia showed their character by maintaining composure on the road. Bentley Brown was outstanding in the period, scoring 5 points on perfect shooting to help his team take a slim 19-18 halftime advantage. The third quarter proved to be the turning point, as Weisbrodt exploded for 9 points in the frame, including a crucial three-pointer that put Batavia ahead for good. His dominant stretch, combined with solid contributions from Gage Westerkamp and Steele Peavely, helped extend the lead to 34-22 entering the final period.

Weisbrodt finished as the game’s leading scorer with 16 points on 5-15 shooting, including a three-pointer and 5-8 from the free-throw line. The balanced attack was evident as multiple players stepped up, with both Greyson Kern and Bentley Brown contributing 7 points each on perfect shooting nights – Kern going 3-3 from the field with a three-pointer, and Brown also shooting 3-3 from the floor.
